60 kW Solar System

If you’re looking for a high-capacity solar energy solution for your business, farm, or large property, a 60 kW solar system could be the perfect fit. With the ability to generate around 240 to 300 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per day, this system is ideal for properties with substantial and consistent energy needs. Let’s explore what a 60 kW system offers and how it can help you reach your energy goals.

Is a 60 kW Solar System Right For Me?

A 60 kW solar system is ideal if:

  • Your property uses around 7,000 to 9,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity each month.
  • You want to significantly reduce or eliminate large energy bills for a business, farm, or multi-unit property.
  • You have sufficient roof or ground space for 130 to 150 high-efficiency solar panels.
  • You’re ready to invest in long-term energy savings, energy independence, and a smaller carbon footprint.

This system size is best suited for commercial facilities, large agricultural operations, or estate homes with consistent, high energy demands. With a properly designed grid-tied or hybrid system, you can also take advantage of net metering, sending excess energy back to the utility grid to earn credits and lower your future electric bills.

60 kW Solar System Options

At Belmont Solar, we customize every solar installation to your property and goals. These are the three main types of systems available for a 60 kW installation:

Grid-tie Solar Systems

Stay connected to the utility grid while producing a significant portion of your energy needs. Net metering helps maximize your return on investment.

Hybrid Solar Systems

Combine the benefits of grid-tied systems with battery backup to keep your power running even when the grid goes down.

Off Grid Solar Systems

Great for remote properties or those who want complete energy independence. These systems include enough battery storage to meet your daily and nighttime power needs.

We’ll help you choose the best option based on your energy usage, site layout, and long-term goals.

Solar System Components

Here’s what makes up a 60 kW solar system:

Solar Panels

To reach a 60 kW capacity, you’ll typically need 130 to 150 solar panels rated at 400 to 450 watts each. We install American-made solar panels backed by a 25-year product and backed by our triple 10 warranty!

Inverters

Inverters convert DC electricity from your panels into usable AC power. We offer advanced inverter options from SolArk, SolarEdge, and Tesla, all featuring energy monitoring and system optimization.

Meters

Grid-tied and hybrid systems require smart meters to track usage and export. You’ll also need a production meter to sell SRECs (Solar Renewable Energy Credits), adding another revenue stream to your solar investment.

Batteries

For off-grid and hybrid systems, batteries store surplus energy for nighttime use or power outages. We install industry-leading battery solutions that are scalable and reliable, even for large systems.

Racking System

Your solar panels need strong, secure racking, on the roof or on the ground. We use Tough Trac, our proprietary in-house racking system, which features built-in wire management and class-leading structural strength.

Our Solar Panel Installation Process

Start by contacting us by phone or submitting a quote. Share your address, an electric bill, and your target budget. We’ll use that info to design a system that fits your needs and location.

We’ll send a free online proposal that outlines the system design, pricing, savings estimate, and installation schedule. After you approve it with a simple electronic signature and deposit, we’ll take care of the rest.

Once permits are approved, our in-house team installs your system quickly and professionally. We verify everything is connected, code-compliant, and generating power before we wrap up.

Solar Panel FAQ

A 60 kW solar system is built to last 25 to 30 years. Most panels come with a guarantee that they’ll maintain at least 90% of their original efficiency for 25 years. At Belmont Solar, we use American-made panels from Solar4America, backed by a 25-year product warranty. Plus, our triple-ten warranty adds extra peace of mind by covering workmanship, equipment, and energy production.

Yes. Solar panels still generate electricity during cloudy weather though at reduced output. Our panels are designed for year-round performance, even in the Mid-Atlantic climate.

  • Renewable Energy Source: Solar energy is free and will not be depleted, making it stand out as a sustainable source.
  • Reduced Electricity Costs: Generating your own electricity will result in considerable monthly savings on your utility bills or eliminate them.
  • Environmental Benefit: Solar power does not use fossil fuels and doesn’t emit greenhouse gases.
  • Increased Home Value: According to a study by Zillow, a residential solar system can increase the value of your house in PA by up to 4.1%.

If you get a grid-tied or hybrid residential system, you can send excess electricity back to the grid and earn credits through net metering. These credits reduce your future bills and increase your savings over time.
