Like many of our projects, this one started with a homeowner looking for an environmentally friendly way to reduce electricity costs. He also had a few specific goals in mind: replacing his wood-burning heat source with a heat pump and eventually switching to an electric vehicle.

After meeting with him, we identified the perfect spot for a ground-mounted solar array, which saved him the hassle and cost of updating an old farm building for a roof installation. We also installed energy-efficient heat pumps, eliminating the need to burn firewood entirely.

Once the system was up and running, his $185 monthly electric bill dropped to zero. Not only did he achieve a net-zero energy home, but he also had enough solar power to support two electric vehicles.
