Why Belmont Solar?
Making a significant investment in your home is scary, and we know the thought of “Who can I trust?” creeps in. When deciding on the company that will make your investment worthwhile and give you a fun experience along the way, you can take a couple of actions before you make the decision.
Make An Initial Connection With A Salesman
First impressions are crucial. Having that personal contact with the salesman will give you a general clue about who you are dealing with. Is this the typical example of a used car salesman, or are you talking to a person who tries to listen to you and educate you properly about your new investment?
Talking to the salesman is your first filter and will help you reduce the number of companies you may not want to work with right off the bat. Don’t be afraid to Call them up! As you know, we live in the age of AI and answering bots. When you call, ensure you get a real person, as it will make all the difference in case of warranty issues.
Visit them!
Too many times, the industry is represented by call centers or virtual offices. It’s important to know that the solar installer has a base of operations, and there is always someone there. So go ahead and walk in! Talk to the owner if possible and look at the workshop, their office, etc. Is it clean and organized? Now you know that this company is well established and supplied with equipment to do a good job
Don’t let price guide you!
Price should be secondary to workmanship and service. As the saying goes: ‘The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.’ Look at their reviews online. Google has grown into the current industry standard for reviews of local businesses, so go ahead and check the reviews. Reviews can give you some idea about workmanship, service-mindedness, integrity, and values.
Find out what equipment is used!
Next to workmanship and service, it is very important to ask and research the products used by the installer. Look and compare for warranty, reviews, etc. Also, listen to the installer and ask why he or she chose the equipment. The installer should give you answers like…. We have a good/trusted relationship with the supplier. We have been installing this brand for many years, and we know their service is good and that they can easily be reached. Then you can give the manufacturer a call! You probably have to struggle through the 1-800 prompts, but check how long it takes to reach a human.
Lastly, it is always a good plan to ask for some references.
