16.5 kW Solar Array
Located just south and west of Reading, Pa, and northeast of Ephrata is the little town of Reinholds, Pennsylvania. We installed this large grid-tied solar array system for the homeowner in Reinholds and we were thrilled with the final project outcome. The size of this grid-tied solar array makes it larger than normal for a residential solar panel system, but the size also allows it to perform exceptionally well, creating extra power that is sent back to the power grid.
This is a 16.5 kilowatt grid-tied solar array system. That means this system sends extra energy not used by the homeowner back to the utility grid. The extra power given back to the grid is then credited to the homeowner at the end of the year in the form of Solar Renewable Energy Credits or SREC’s. The Pennsylvania Solar Renewable Energy Credit system is interesting because SREC’s generated in PA can be sold on both the PA and OH markets. Reinholds Solar Array Power Production
In the video, Ben Zook mentions that the solar system is producing 7,000 watts while looking at the solar array inverter. 1 Kilowatt Hour is made up of 1,000 Watts. The average American household uses between 28 and 30 Kilowatt hours per day or between 800-900 kilowatt-hours per month. This solar array will easily produce more than enough energy throughout the month with any additional power being credited back to the owner in the form of SREC’s.
